We left Tusayan at around 9:30am. We had been told by a couple of people that we really should visit Sedona. As it was only a slight detour, I had planned to visit it on our way back to Tempe.
What a wonderful surprise the area around Sedona was, the Town itself was very touristy, with prices to match but incredibly beautiful.

As we drove the twisty and winding road down to the Town, we were grateful that we weren’t on our bikes. There was no shoulder and no passing places, the road was fairly busy with tourist traffic and most people were driving sensibly. The grade of the hills made it impossible for us to pull over and take pictures. Which was a shame as the scenery was stunning.

Along the route there were some very pricey resorts that you can stay at. Some with their own river running through the property.

This is a very popular walking area, and Ralf said if we were to come back to the Grand Canyon area, we would definitely have to do some walking in this area.
We stopped for lunch in Sedona and had a nice walk up and down the main street. Very expensive area, but well worth the visit.
We arrived back in Tempe at around 4:30. Christine had arranged for us to meet Franzisca at the “Open Mic”. I was exhausted, and had a stiff neck and I wanted to have an early night, although I really wanted to meet Franziska.

We asked Christine if we could stay an extra night so that we could have lunch with Franziska, and she very generously said we could. This is even more generous as Christine is defending her thesis for her masters degree on Tuesday.
